Teeing off for a good cause

The annual Henderson Insurance Broker’s golf day was held recently at Greetham Valley Golf Club. Organised by staff in their Peterborough office, existing and new clients were invited for a couple of rounds of golf followed by an evening dinner and prize giving.

Traditionally a raffle is organised to raise money for a local charity. This year the amount raised was £675 and was donated to BNI’s charity of the year Action for Asperger’s. Nick Kennedy, Director at Henderson said, “Henderson has been running this golf event for over 10 years so it was great to be able to raise money and support Elaine who gives us a real insight to the work she does each week at BNI.” Receiving the donation was Elaine Nicholson MBE, founder and chairman of the charity

“Our charity currently counsels 2,000 individuals whose lives have become adversely affected by the experience of autism and Asperger's syndrome. When we do therapy on children we often use toys based on special interests to aid their communications. The amount that Henderson's insurance brokers have fundraised will buy manifold toys for this purpose. We are extremely grateful.”

Team Synergy is working on more fundraising activities to support Elaine with the life changing work she delivers.

Easter egg treats for a local charity

Last month BNI Synergy donated over 60 Easter eggs and raised nearly £100 for their charity of the year Action for Asperger’s.

The eggs were distributed to clients who attend Action for Asperger’s counselling therapy, many of whom are between the ages of 3 and 100 with an autism spectrum disorder. The founder and chairman Elaine Nicholson MBE said,

“Our clients who received their eggs were bowled over by BNI’s support of our little-big charity!  Autism is an often-forgotten or ignored cause, yet it affects 1 in 100 individuals.

In BNI there are three members whose families are affected by autism or Aspergers syndrome.  It is comfortingly reassuring that BNI synergy has continued to support our cause – this is now the third year and we cannot be more delighted.”

Elaine also sees the benefits of such a group in terms of providing a one-stop shop for many of the charity’s needs, from stationery to getting the kitchen tap fixed.
